Face lift (rhytidectomy) is a surgery for restoring the freshness of the face. It does not change the base of the face and does not stop the aging process. Face lift is done only through surgery. Non-surgical rejuvenation treatments cannot result in similar outcomes, but can postpone the right time of face lift or complete surgical outcomes. Fat injection is a very helpful adjuvant method.
Face, cheeks, and neck fat can be re-shaped and moved and the underlying tissue can be placed in a new position. Usually the deeper layers of the face and muscles are also lifted. Then the facial skin is stretched over the lifted areas and the excess skin is removed. Face lift incisions are located in front and behind the ear. An additional incision may be made under the chin to improve the aging neck. The incisions can be closed by sutures or skin adhesives.
Sagging cheeks, loose skin of the neck, and excess fat under the chin can be corrected with a neck lift. Neck lift incision usually begins from the earlobe anterior, turns to the ear posterior, and continues to hair growth site.
